Scholars Bowl
The Scholars Bowl is an academic competition involving students in grades 6, 7, and 8. The students compete four times annually against
students from other middle schools throughout the county.
2007-2008 Team Members The 2007-2008 Scholastic Challenge team members are: Bethany Cobb, Gareson Cottrell, TJ Dressler, Kristyn Edwards, Payton Fulford, Will Hayford, Tyler Karlstad, Hannah Kibby, Emily LaForce, Blake Langley, Taylor Lee, Delaney Romero, Rebecca Smith, Karen Thomas. Sponsor Mrs. Linda Perdue, CHBS Librarian/Teacher is the sponsor of this team.
2007-2008 School Year The CHBS Scholars Bowl team competed against other school teams in the Private School Division of the Bay Area Scholastic Challenge during the 2007-2008 school year. They also competed at the Super Tournament which was held at the University of South Alabama on March 14, 2008. At this competition, our team competed with thirty-one other teams from all the divisions. On April 1, 2008, the 7th graders from the team competed in the AISA District II Tournament and placed 2nd. The members attending this competition were Bethany Cobb, Gareson Cottrell, Tyler Karlstad, Hannah Kibby, and Karen Thomas. 2006-2007 School Year During the 2006-2007 school year, they participated in the Private School Division of the Bay Area Scholastic Challenge. CHBS received a 4th place ranking for this year which allowed them to advance to the Super Tournament which was held at the University of South Alabama. Michael Raleigh was recognized as the MVP for his participation in this tournament. 2006 Super Tournament Cottage Hill Baptist School's A and B teams participated in the Bay Area Scholastic Challenge private school division on February 15, 2006, at Cottage Hill Christian Academy. The A team defeated St. Mary's and St. Ignatius' A teams and our B team defeated St. Mary's B team. Both teams went on to compete in the Bay Area Scholastic Challenge Super Tournament on Friday, March 17, 2006, at the University of South Alabama. The A-Team received the Mobile County Private Schools Division trophy for their undefeated season.
