Computer Lab
The Computer Lab at Cottage Hill Baptist School
Realizes that students must be prepared to use computers effectively to excel in an advanced technological society.
Is equipped with 27 networked computers using WINXP (all with internet access), black/white and color laser printers, photo printer, projector, digital camera, video camera, and scanner.
Offers 20 minute/once a week classes for students in K3, 30 minute/once a week classes for students in K4 and K5, and 45 minute/once a week classes for students in grades 1-5. A Middle School Computer Elective and a Photoshop Elements Elective is also offered to students in grades 7-8.
Uses the following applications: word processing, presentation, spreadsheet, graphics, photo editing, clipart, math and language reinforcement software, keyboarding, phonics based typing software, and SAT preparation software.
Integrates technology with grade level curriculum by incorporating the use of the internet while learning important application skills using the programs, Microsoft Office and Student Writing Center.
Uses the phonics based typing program, Read, Write, &Type! to teach keyboarding skills to the 2nd grade students.
Uses Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing for 3rd to 8th graders to reinforce the keyboarding skills taught in 2nd grade.
Uses Photoshop Elements 5 to teach photo editing skills to 7th through 8th graders.
Is rapidly expanding, opening up a whole new way to enhance student achievement.
