History of the Cottage Hill Baptist School System: The Cottage Hill Baptist School System was established in 1961. In 1997, the Cottage Hill Christian Academy grades 9th -12th  were established. The first graduating class was in May of 2000 (13 students).

All classes have grown steadily each year and currently 650 plus students attend our schools. The 2008 graduating class consist of 69 students.

ACCREDITATION:  Cottage Hill Christian Academy is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), the Alabama Independent School Association (AISA), and holds membership in the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). CEEB Code is 011-807.

CURRICULUM:  Two diplomas are offered for graduation:  the Honors Diploma and the College-prep Diploma.  Both require 28 units of academic work.  Courses are offered at AP., Honors, and College-prep levels to prepare students for success in college.

GRADING SCALE:  A=100-90; B=89-80; C=79-70; E=69-0

STANDARDIZED TESTS:  All students are administered the EXPLORE at ninth grade; the PLAN at tenth grade; and the PSAT at the eleventh grade. Of the schools’ eight graduating classes, four have had as a member either a National Merit Commended Scholar or a National Merit Finalist.  Advanced Placement courses are offered in English Literature, Calculus AB, and beginning in 2007, Spanish.

2004 - 45 Graduates w/ 15% range 26-33
2005-  53 Graduates w /21% range 26-33
2006 - 60 Graduates w/ 20% range 26-33
2007 - 40 Graduates w/ 15% range 26-33

POST-SECONDARY: Each graduating class has approximately 98% of its graduates attending a four-year college/university and 2% attending a two-year college.

ATHLETICS:  Ten sports are offered for varsity competition. This includes:  football, volleyball, basketball for boys and girls, softball, baseball, cross country, golf, tennis, track and cheerleading.

CLUBS:  Students are given the opportunity to join clubs to gain experience in service, leadership, spiritual renewal or academic competition. Clubs include:  Art League, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Key Club, Student Government Association, Young Women of Virtue, Science Club, Warrior Spirit Club, Spanish Club, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Scholar’s Bowl, Math Team, Student Leadership Institute, and the Outdoor Club.
